Company_Details: The corporate identity is for an open source project for a web content management system. XOOPS is actually two things at the same time. XOOPS is an advanced, powerful, flexible content management system with which you can easily set up and manage a dynamic and interactive website. XOOPS is an acronym for eXtensible Object Oriented Portal System, a reference to it’s flexible and extensible architecture. It’s modular setup makes it easy to create and add new advanced features and integrate them into any XOOPS powered website. It’s flexibility also shows in the way the code is separated from the design, allowing designers to easily give each XOOPS powered site a unique look and feel. But, XOOPS is also an open source community project. The XOOPS.org project is a real community powered open project, where thousands of users, developers and designers from all over the world collaborate andshare ideas, code, designs and provide quality community support and resources, all for the benefit of the community. Both sides of the XOOPS coin come together in the XOOPS tagline: Powered by you! The XOOPS system gives people the means to power their own advanced websites, and the project itself is powered by it’s great community. The central hub for All Things XOOPS is the www.xoops.org website. The community created the XOOPS Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose primary task is to ensure the XOOPS project will remain alive and kicking, and facilitate the community to do just that.
Examples: The corporate identity consists of the following designs: – - Main logo – - Color scheme – - Font with the following variations: – - 16×16 favicon – - small image only (full color) – - small image only (black & white) – - medium logo dark background – - medium logo light background – - medium logo transparant background – - medium logo gradient background – - medium logo with organisation tag variations (for XOOPS Foundation, XOOPS Development site/team, XOOPS Support site/team etc.), each with it’s variation on color scheme. Other media: – - corporate identity applied to businesscard – - corporate identity applied to letterhead – - corporate identity applied to factsheet – - corporate identity applied to report cover
Colors: The corporate identity has to fulfill the following requirements: Use the tagline : Powered by you! The logo must be strong, recognisable, simple and clear. This means: – - maximum 3 colors (clear, calm colors, using accent colors, white is not bad
) – - no gradients or special effects (although these can be added later for special occasions and specific uses) – - ‘iconic’ design: the name and logo should be usable separately. The logo must be usable on different places. The default aspect ration (for use on the websites) is height:1 x width:2. It must be usable on different backgrounds and in differnt scales. It must be usable on different media (website, paper, merchandise) An extra requirement is that the intellectual property rights (IP) will be transferred to the XOOPS Foundation, so it can be registered as a trademark. Credits will be given to the designer, of course!
Style: I’d like to see what creative freedom will bring. Try to capture the ’spirit of XOOPS‘, our lead developer is very charmed of the dragonfly as the embodyment of that spirit. If you have another idea, I’d like to see this too
The ‘X’ in XOOPS has always been important in our style. As you can see on our website and the local support websites (http://www.xoops.org/modules/xoopspartners/). I’d like a clean, clear, stylised style that conveys professionalism and stability as well as openness and community. I realise these are all vague concepts, so I’m willing to discuss and try to explain them if necessary.
Comments: XOOPS.org is ranked 4.262 on alexa.com (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/tr…=www.xoops.org), we get about 10.000 visitors per day. The style will also be used in the system itself, which is downloaded 6-10.000 times a day (according to sf.net). The logo will be seen and used a LOT.
